The E-MU 0204 USB Audio Interface is the ultimate portable 2-in/4-out USB audio interface for PC and Mac, offering pristine 24-bit/192kHz recording and playback, direct monitoring and a host of professional features in a compact, USB bus-powered package. Presteert niet zoals verwacht...

Ik kocht de EMU 0204 vanwege de mogelijkheid om op 192 KHz te kunnen opnemen. Op zicht werkt de 0204 goed, ware het niet dat het onmogelijk is om hoger dan -7,5 dB tre moduleren! Boven -7,5 dB in elk audioprogramma licht het overload LEDje op en wordt de golfvorm 'hard' geclipt. Meting toont aan dat de A/D converter in de 0204 weliswaar volledig uitgestuurd wordt, maar dat er ergens in de omzetting naar de USB aansluiting of in de driver 7,5 dB verloren gaat. Kortom: dit product bevat een duidelijke ontwerpfout, hetzij in de hardware, hetzij in de software.
